We have had a few parents and coaches reach out regarding the sudden death of Lazar LaPenna, a 10 year old from Long Beach, Long Island who passed away during his little league game. In honor of Lazar LaPenna, New Hyde Park Little League is asking that all of our Little League players wear their Little League jersey to school on Monday, May 9th, which was also Lazar's number. Also, if so inclined, some are leaving bats and other baseball gear out on front porches to show support to this family.

Also, for the Majors players that had a collision at a game this week, Hopefully they will be back on the field sooner than later. Never want to hear that any of our players get hurt during a game.
We have been hearing about reports of smoking and/or vaping at both Nuzzi and Memorial. Neither of these activities, along with alcohol consumption is permitted at any Little League game, and also a big No-No at the Village Parks and school fields. We can not control what a resident who is not involved with the Little League does in the park or adjacent homeowners/people in vehicles but let's not give any one from the Village or schools any reason to make things tougher on us.
The next General Meeting is being moved to Tuesday, May 10 at 8pm. We are moving the General Meeting as the NHPLL Board will be attending the NHP/GCP School Board Meeting on Monday to discuss the lack of getting permits to allow our little league players use of fields as done for the past 50 plus years. The loss of these fields left our players without additional fields to use for games and practices. We encourage parents to attend also.
Elmont Union Free School District did give us fields and did some prep to Stewart Manor and let us use Covert Ave also which helped.
The varsity coach over at New Hyde Park Memorial is once again hosting a camp this summer. The flyer can be found under the About Us section of the our website for anyone interested. It's a good way to wear out the kids for a couple of weeks. Both softball and baseball players are being accepted
